“Whoever kicks the highest wins! Hells yeah!”

So what’s Scott Adkins’ ninja-rific hero from 2009’s “Ninja” been up to? Well, turns out he’s got a pretty sweet life, and he’s now married to the lovely Namiko and they’re about to have a kid. Then she gets killed. Oops! That, of course, sends Adkins’ character on a suicide mission to whack the man responsible, which apparently entails kicking a whole lotta ass, sometimes shirtless. (Dude’s buff.) After all, what self-respecting ninja would just let the murder of his wife and unborn child go unpunished. Know what I mean?

Check out the first trailer for Adkins and director Isaac Florentine’s “Ninja: Shadow of a Tear”. Florentine also directed the 2009 movie, and it looks like he’s really cranked up the action for the sequel.

Casey Bowman has finally settled down. He’s happily married to Namiko (who is pregnant with their first child), living in Japan and teaching at the Koga dojo. While buying her a present, Casey is attacked by two punks. He shrugs it off, assuming it to be a simple mugging. But when Namiko is brutally murdered later that same night, Casey’s world falls apart. Stricken with grief and thirsty for revenge, Casey tracks down the two thugs who tried to rob him, but they can’t provide him with any clues to his wife’s murder. So Casey travels to Thailand, to the dojo of a close friend. His grief and anger are taking control of him and he lashes out while sparring with other students. When one of the students is killed in the same way as Namiko, Casey finally gets the clues he needs to track down his wife’s killer and unravel a mystery of grudges deep in the Burmese jungle.

Starring Scott Adkins, Shun Sugata, Mika Hijii, “Only God Forgives'” Vithaya Pansringarm, and someone who should know a thing or two about ninja movies, Kane Kosugi.

No word on a release date yet, so late 2013 would be my guess.

WHY THE FUCK ISN”T HE BATMAN?!!!!! I’ve always wanted to see a Batman movie where he fights like he’s the COT DAMN BATMAN!

    • Juggernaut

      Amen brother!

      • http://www.beyondhollywood.com/ Dedpool

It’s the cape. It gets in the way if really cool stuff. It’s apparently being addressed for this movie. Hoping they actually incorporate the cape Intl his fighting style like in the Arkham games.

    • osarumen erhunmwunsee

agreed!! the truth is batman movie doesn’t know marshal art! did you see how he was fighting in dark knight rises? poor fight in my opinion.

      • http://www.beyondhollywood.com/ Dedpool

He was supposed to be old and out of it, and pretty much on crutches.

        • osarumen erhunmwunsee

ok what i mean is the whole batman trilogy from the beginning he doesn’t know marshal art. i was so disappointed when i saw the first one. he was fighting like a jerk. he doesn’t know marshal art. part 2 the same. part 3 is even worse. they need to upgrade live action batman, we wanna see him fight marshal art. we wanna see him throw batrangs, we wanna see him with is own sword, we wanna see him with smoke gas, we want another villain like lady sheva.

          • http://www.beyondhollywood.com/ Dedpool

Actually he did. Though it was only briefly shown he was using it, Bale’s Batman, or Bruce Wayne I should say used traditional martial arts against Ra’s Al Ghul/Ducard in the beginning of the film. What happened was that Ra’s took him apart, showing the inefectiveness of traditional martial arts in the brutal world. He used a martial arts form called keysi which much like Silat use short and quick attacks to incapacitate your opponent as quickly and efficiently as possible. It doesn’t have a lot of flair or flourishy movements, like wushu and is basically made to waste as little tiem and action as possible. If you look at the Batman Arkham games he isn’t all pretty moves and florushy kicks, it’s about dispatching the group of criminals as fast as possible with little damage to himself. That said I want a few slow mo shots of batman taking down multiple criminals and some crazy accurate and cool ricochet Batarang shots.

the new batman akaham origin when he fought deathstroke. didnt you see how they both fought? it was freaking awesome. that is what i want my batman to be.

          • http://www.beyondhollywood.com/ Dedpool

Yes I did. And that’s another example of what i was talking about, except for a few extra kicks, made it slightly different than the fighting in Nolan’s Trilogy. The acrobatics are more impressive though and I hope they acknowledge that and his detective skills more. Batman is more than an expert fighter. I really hope we get to see him in full on action. The Arkham games are the best template.

          • osarumen erhunmwunsee

yeah! i just hope in the nest movie called superman and batman, i hope we will get to see him in action. wanna see him fight marshal art in this one.

Did you not read the whole theing I wrote about Keysi figting? That was martial arts. Like I said it’s not Wushu, wingh chun, karate, tai chi, or anything like that its a more brutal Martial art form, like Silat and krav maga. It’s designed to stop an opponent as quickly as possible without flashy moves and being as efficient as possible. Which is EXACTLY how Batman would fight! Which is how he futghts in the games. it’s not always pretty but it’s efficient and gets the job done.

          • osarumen erhunmwunsee

ok i agree with you. by the way. how do you know all this names of marshal art? did you learn marshal art?

          • http://www.beyondhollywood.com/ Dedpool

I’m an enthusiast. Have been watching Kung-Fu flicks since I was a kid. Whenever something new pops into the public I do a little research. The special features on Batman Begins explains about eh Keysi fighting. I watched The Raid and learned a bit about Silat. The rest is just picking stuff up here and there. i’d like to study some when my daughter gets older.

          • Kal-El-1983

ok It’s MARTIAL arts..Marshal is a completely different word.

The man is a beast! Blonde him up and make him iron fist already!

    • Gus

Scott Adkins = Iron fist and Michael Jai White = Luke Cage

      • http://www.beyondhollywood.com/ Dedpool

Was thinking that, and they’d have good chemistry, but I’d rather like Morris Chestnut for Cage. But I could definitely go for White, he’d have to dirty his fighting up and be more of a street fighter.

  • TRD

That is pretty fucking awesome. Looking forward to this film. I love the first one.
A Scott Adkins vs Donnie Yen or a team up would be amazing.

  • Teddy Tinsley

Your right he would be awesome as Batman. When is this coming out? Late 2013!!! I need this movie now.

    • http://www.beyondhollywood.com/ Dedpool

Love the guy but he doesn’t have the acting chops to pull it off, yet.

    • Hussain Naseem

The guy can’t act …. if you want your batman movie to be a movie of a muscle bound martial arts guy doing take downs then be my guest

  • Kal-El-1983

Atkins is a Beast fighting wise…but I wouldn’t want him as batman. If he was to be anyone in the Batman Universe I say make him Prometheus…

    • http://www.beyondhollywood.com/ Dedpool

Um, KGbeast!!! He loves playing russians. But that ain’t happening! He should be Iron fist though!!!
