If you were disappointed that Scott Speedman took a flyer on the last “Underworld” movie, you’re probably not the only one. So what has the former lycan/vampire hybrid been doing with his time now that he isn’t battling alongside Kate Beckinsale? Starring in a true-life gangster movie about a bank robber in Canada post-WWII, apparently. Check out the trailer, poster, and some images for Scott Speedman’s “Citizen Gangster”. It sure has a great cast, including the always great Brian Cox and Kevin Durand, who is always shamefully underrated in my opinion.
Based on a real WWII vet and family man turned bank robber. Disillusioned by his post war circumstances, Eddie Boyd is torn between the need to provide for his young family and an unfulfilled dream to head to Hollywood to become a star. He discovers a way to do both, robbing banks Hollywood style, but his dream leads him down a path of danger and tragedy.
The film also stars Kelly Reilly, Kevin Durand, Joseph Cross, William Mapother, Brendan Fletcher, Brian Cox, Charlotte Sullivan, and is directed by Nathan Morlando.
“Citizen Gangster” is a 2011 release in its native Canada (where it’s called “Edwin Boyd”), but no word on a U.S. release yet.
