Or at least, it’s as “hip” as it can be, being that all it’s doing is pretty much treading the same ground it’s been treading since the first movie, except now it has iPhones and a slew of new, prettier nubile young ladies to fill the screen. Kevin Williamson also continues his love affair with post-modern horror hipness, which is no surprise, though I wonder if the teaser trailer gave away a spoiler or two involving Courteney Cox’s Gale? Could be a big red herring, of course, as that seems a tad too obvious.
Sidney (Neve Campbell) — now the author of a self-help book — returns home to Woodsboro on the last stop of her book tour. There she reconnects with sheriff Dewey (David Arquette) and his wife, Gale (Courteney Cox), as well as her cousin Jill (Emma Roberts) and her aunt Kate (Mary McDonnell). Unfortunately, Sidney’s reappearance also instigates more Ghostface killings and puts Jill’s high school friends in danger.
Starring Hayden Panettiere, Emma Roberts, Adam Brody, Courteney Cox, Neve Campbell, Marley Shelton, Mary McDonnell, Rory Culkin, David Arquette, Anthony Anderson, Erik Knudsen, Nico Tortorella, Marielle Jaffe and directed by Wes Craven.
Stabbing back April 15, 2011.
