Screamers 2 is Coming! Run, Kids, Run!

I’ve heard tell of a sequel to the 1995 sci-fi actioner “Screamers” for a while now, but it never seemed to happen. Now it appears as if the sequel is very much real, and they’re about to start shooting as soon as the cast is rounded out. The 1995 original starred Robocop himself, Peter Dweller, as a futuristic soldier trapped on a desert planet with small, mechanical killing machines that likes to burrow in the sand and come out to slice and dice its human victims. The movie had its faults, but overall I really enjoyed it.

More about the sequel:

Set to lens in Canada in January, “Screamers 2” fixes on a group of humans from earth, including Lt. Victoria Bronte, who arrive on Sirius 6-B to investigate an SOS signal sent out from the planet, which has been supposedly deserted since the destruction of the man-made weapons known as “screamers.”

Once the squad arrives, they find a group of human survivors eking out an existence in an old military outpost, but more important, they discover that the threat of the screamers has become even more insidious, now that they’re able to morph into human form.

Sheldon Wilson (”Kaw”) will direct.

The creepiest thing about “Screamers” were those “kid screamers” that stalked you wherever you go. They would hold onto those ragged teddy bears and would just be everywhere. Freaky stuff, man.

Haha, that movie looks like a lot of fun. The title font is also “borrowed” from another famous scifi movie… hmmm
