Sean Patrick Flanery was over at the San Diego Comic Con shindig earlier this year, and the fanboys at Bigfanboy got an interview with him. Besides talking comic books, Flanery also gave a brief update on the chances of another “Boondock Saints” movie, which Flanery stars alongside Norman Reedus as two Irish vigilante brothers. Well, I don’t have to tell you about the movies, you either know what the “Boondock Saints” movies are about or you don’t.
Anyways, after a lot of talk about “Saw 3D”, Flanery finally dropped some “Boondock Saints 3″ nuggets.
I can say that all parties are very interested. And so the ball’s rolling.
Depending on what you believe, the first “Boondock Saints” was a theatrical disaster, but eventually became a huge cult hit on DVD. The second film entered theaters with an $8 million dollar budget and left with $10 million. Not exactly the hit they were hoping for, but I’m sure after the DVD success of the first movie, the filmmakers and director Troy Duffy probably realized ticket sales wasn’t going to tell the tale on their film’s success.
And indeed, the sequel has earned over $21 million in DVD sales so far, so if you’re a fan of the franchise, it’s looking pretty good for a third go-round. And as you heard Flanery, “the ball’s rolling…”
