As previously mentioned, director Kathryn Bigelow and writer Mark Boal have re-teamed after the incredibly successful “Hurt Locker” to create “The Triple Frontier”, a film set amongst the crime ridden border zone of Southern America. According to Collider, they aren’t set to start shooting until next year, but after Mark Boal had met with the A-List stars for future collaborations, an Argentinian newspaper (via The Playlist) is reporting rumors that Sean Penn, Denzel Washington and Javier Bardem could be considered for “The Triple Frontier”.
The logline of the story is still a closely guarded secret, but what we do know is that the actual Triple Frontier happens to be a tourist hotspot, a drug-trafficking hotspot and a possible Islamic militant money laundering hotspot with terrorist connections. Now, unless Bigelow is planning on making a family holiday film, my best bet is that she’ll be focusing on either the drug trafficking or the terrorism connections (or, most likely, both). After doing some of my own research, and by research I mean I quickly looked up a wikipedia page, it seems like America has been sending some troops to Paraguay (one of the three countries on the border) for some joint-military operations. Now this is only some speculation on my part, but if its going to be anything like “Hurt Locker”, we can expect to see a suspense driven film shown from the point of view of a couple of American soldiers. On the other hand, the film’s said to be similar to the critically acclaimed “Traffic”, so I may be completely wrong.
