Sean Pertwee’s Alfred and Robin Taylor’s The Penguin Check in to Gotham

Former “Dog Soldiers” badass Sean Pertwee seems to be making a pretty good career out of playing British characters on American TV. Fans of “Elementary” will recognize him in the recurring role of Gareth Lestrade, Sherlock Holmes’ erstwhile London colleague.

On Fox’s “Gotham,” Pertwee will be playing Alfred Pennyworth, a young Bruce Wayne’s butler and confidant. Here’s your first look at Pertwee in, well, full costume, I guess, from the upcoming TV show. He looks butler-y.

“Gotham” follows Commissioner James Gordon’s (Ben McKenzie) rise to prominence in Gotham City in the years before Batman’s arrival. David Mazouz will play Bruce Wayne, with Camren Bicondova as Selina Kyle (aka Catwoman) and Donal Logue as Harvey Bullock.

And here’s Robin Taylor as The Penguin:

Nice. And technically he’s Oswald Cobblepot, just Like it’s Selina Kyle, not Catwoman. He looks the part though. A lot of this is really intriguing me. I hope we get some of the juicy backstory of Gotham. Between “Batman: Year One” “Batman: Earth One” “Batman: Gates of Gotham” “All Star Western” (which tells the adventures of Amadeus Arkham and Jonah Hex) there is a wealth of sordid history of the city.
