I guess Lena Headey could only do a cameo in “The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones” because she had to get back to shooting “Game of Thrones”. Or something. Anyways, Headey has a small role in “City of Bones”, playing the mother of the female lead, Phil Collins’ kid, Lily, who is this super badass demon hunter, only she doesn’t know it. Fortunately for her, Jamie Campbell Bower plays a hunky hunk who introduces her to her true destiny, which is, of course, to save the world. After all, anything less than saving all of humanity would be, well, rather mundane.
Check out the second trailer for “The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones”, the first of what Sony is hoping will launch a franchise. The movie is based on a YA series of books, but then I’m sure you already know that.
Set in contemporary New York City, a seemingly ordinary teenager, Clary Fray (Lily Collins), discovers she is the descendant of a line of Shadowhunters, a secret cadre of young half-angel warriors locked in an ancient battle to protect our world from demons. After the disappearance of her mother (Lena Headey), Clary must join forces with a group of Shadowhunters, who introduce her to a dangerous alternate New York called Downworld, filled with demons, warlocks, vampires, werewolves and other deadly creatures. Based on the worldwide best-selling book series.
“City of Bones” also stars Kevin Zegers, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Robert Sheehan, Kevin Durand, Jared Harris, Jemima West, Godfrey Gao, Aidan Turner, and CCH Pounder.
Striking for humanity this August 23, 2013.
