Michael Shannon plays a coldblooded killer in Ariel Vromen’s “The Iceman”, the true story of mob hitman Richard Kuklinski. Well, he’s a coldblooded killer when he’s at work, anyway, but at home he’s a pretty nice guy, great husband, and apparently fantastic father from the looks of this dramatization. Too bad he kills people for a living, but hey, everyone’s got their quirks, right?

Here’s the second trailer for the true story (or at least, true story-ish) of the Iceman in the aptly titled “The Iceman”. This thing looks crazy violent, in a gritty, down-to-Earth crazy violent sort of way.

Inspired by actual events, The Iceman follows notorious contract killer Richard Kuklinski from his early days in the mob until his arrest for the murder of more than 100 men. Appearing to be living the American dream as a devoted husband and father; in reality Kuklinski was a ruthless killer-for-hire. When finally arrested in 1986, neither his wife nor daughters have any clue about his real profession.

Starring James Franco, Chris Evans, Michael Shannon, Winona Ryder, David Schwimmer, Ray Liotta, Stephen Dorff, Erin Cummings, Garrett Kruithof, Robert Davi, and Christa Campbell.

Putting it on ice May 3, 2013.
