Second Trailer for the Cartoon Network’s Thundercats

Check out the second trailer for the Cartoon Network’s new “Thundercats” animated series which premiered over at WonderCon. The second trailer, unlike the first one, features plenty of narration and voiceover, and lays down the plot of the upcoming series. Look for it sometime this year on the Cartoon Network.

A sweeping tale combining swords and science and boasting ferocious battles with the highest of stakes, the grand origin story of Prince Lion-O’s ascension to the throne — and of those who would thwart his destiny at any cost — takes on epic dimensions in this sharp new telling. As the forces of good and evil battle each other in the quest for the fabled Stones of Power, Lion-O and his champions learn valuable lessons of loyalty, honor and mortality in every episode.

The voice cast includes Will Friedle as Lion-O, Matthew Mercer as Tygra, Larry Kenny as Claudus, Kevin Michael Richardson as Panthro, and Emmanuelle Chriqui as Cheetara.

Notice the voice actor for Lion-O’s supposed father here, is the same actor that did the original voice for Lion-O in the original show. This looks good, the mecha robots just look out of place. It’ll be great to see the origins of Grune The Destroyer here.

THAT WAS EPIC!! I actually liked that they changed the story, much how I liked the changes they made to Maters of the Universe for the 2002 show. It really gives it a more epic fantasy feel. I do miss the feeling of them being outsiders but this looks amazing. I do love that Claudis is voiced by the original Lion-O. And I can’t wait to see Grune’s fall from grce as well. As Ulik said the mechs took me by surprise, but I can get behind them coming from Vultureman or something. The art is great Mumm-ra looked almost exactly the same. Can’t wait man!

I am so glad that Thundercats is getting the attention finally! I to cant wait to see the origins of Grune, just cant believe Tygra and Lion-o are brother…never saw that coming when i watched the show in the 80s but im excited that lenny kenny is apart of this, to bad the character who played mummra is dead and earl that played panthro is way to old maybe in his late 80s by now.

    R.I.P Perry!

  • Ulik

Yeah, didn’t Earl play Bill Cosby’s father on “The Cosby Show”?

Come to think of it, now that I’ve seen these Mecha-bots, why do I have a strange feeling that we maybe getting spoon-fed for a “Silver Hawks” cameo. Just wishful thinking maybe, but it’d be extremely baddass!!!!

Wishful thinking indeed but a good wish. Nonetheless! I’d love to see an updated “Silver Hawks.” I think if they played up the cop/soldier aspect more it’d be sweet.

        Sent on the go.

Also a updated on Bravestar, Visionaries, C.O.P.S, The Centurions , etc. Something like what they did with He-Man in 2002 and how they showed us how bone head became bone head.

Remember Rocket robin hood and Mighty Hercules?

          • http://www.originalgeekspodcast.com/ Dedpool

Man Bravestar, C.O.P.S., Centurians and Visionairies I can see. I’d also love M.A.S.K., Inhumanoids and Galaxy Rangers too.

            Sent on the go.

Ya Earl was balancing playing the role on the Cosby Show while voicing Panthro.
