See the I am Legend Alternate Ending

Written by Nix | March 5th, 2008 | 3 Comments |

Let’s face it: the ending we got for the Will Smith movie “I am Legend” was universally frowned upon. It detoured greatly from the book, but then again, so did most of the movie, so that’s not such a big deal. But they closed the whole shebang with such a weak, weak sugary ending that, well, if you liked the movie, you probably hated it after the credits rolled. I didn’t care for most of the movie, so didn’t really mind the craptastic nature of the ending. But what about that alternate ending we’ve heard about? Now you can see it for yourself. In a word, it’s … well, you can see it and judge for yourself.

Better than the original ending? Just as bad? You decide. (Well, it certainly would have made a sequel much more feasible, anyway…)

I would’ve much preferred this ending. It would’ve gave an otherwise dark movie a more upbeat ending. I always thought that -spoilers- Neville made an unnecessary sacrfice at the end the film. This ending would’ve put “I Am Legend” near the top of my list of favs from last year.

Really? It doesn’t make sense to me that the vamp would just let him go like that.
