Seven Clips from Real Steel Busts Online

Don’t get me wrong. I want to get excited about Hugh Jackman’s “Real Steel”, but I’m just not feeling it. It looks like an uber expensive movie (when you have fighting robots in any capacity, that pretty much screams big Hollywood budget), but the fact that our hero has to drag his kid around and has to bond with the brat pretty much guarantees I won’t be getting the type of robot battlin’ action I really want. That is, robots running around tearing off people’s arms and legs. What, you saying that wouldn’t be cool? Well yeah, it wouldn’t be cool, it would be AWESOME. Anyways, here are seven clips from “Real Steel”, opening later next week. You may dig it more than me. If so, good for you.

A gritty, white-knuckle, action ride set in the near-future, where the sport of boxing has gone hi-tech, “Real Steel” stars Hugh Jackman as Charlie Kenton, a washed-up fighter who lost his chance at a title when 2000-pound, 8-foot-tall steel robots took over the ring. Now nothing but a small-time promoter, Charlie earns just enough money piecing together low-end bots from scrap metal to get from one underground boxing venue to the next. When Charlie hits rock bottom, he reluctantly teams up with his estranged son Max (Dakota Goyo) to build and train a championship contender. As the stakes in the brutal, no-holds-barred arena are raised, Charlie and Max, against all odds, get one last shot at a comeback.

Starring Hugh Jackman, Evangeline Lilly, Kevin Durand, Anthony Mackie, Hope Davis, Karl Yune, Dakota Goyo and directed by Shawn Levy.

Go for the win October 7, 2011.
