Over the past few months, I’ve had a very hard time getting excited about anything on SyFy. Some of the movies are still enjoyable, but that’s about it. However, all of that changed when I finally laid my lazy eye on the short but sweet trailer for writer Thunder Levin and director Anthony C. Ferrante’s “Sharknado.”

The flick has everything you could possible want from a low-budget movie: Tara Reid, a former “90210” cast member, and John Heard. Sharks inside tornadoes are just icing on the cinematic cake. There’s even a terrible reference to “Jaws” in the trailer. What more could you possibly want? For crying out loud!

SyFy describes the effort as follows:

regulars of a beachside bar including owner Fin, bartender Nova, and local drunk George, team up with Fin’s ex-wife April to investigate the ecological nightmare that has sharks swimming through the streets of Los Angeles and falling from the skies.

“Sharknado” debuts in all its wonky glory on SyFy next Thursday. That’s July 11 for those who still write things down on calendars. When you’ve properly prepared your tender mind for the very short trailer, you can have your way with it below. I apologize in advance if this ruins your faith in the medium.

Author: Todd Rigney

Todd was raised on a steady diet of Hollywood blockbusters, late-night Cinemax programming, and USA’s “Up All Night,” which may explain why his taste in movies is more than a little questionable. When he isn’t providing news and reviews for Beyond Hollywood, he can be found lounging lazily on his couch, perched in front of his television, or dwelling in places where direct sunlight can be easily avoided. He's happily married, in his 30's, and totally badass. If you'd like to reach Todd, you can follow him on Twitter or send him email/scoops to todd (at)
