“District 9” star Sharlto Copley has had better days than the one he’s trying to survive in “Apollo 18” director Gonzalo López-Gallego’s “Open Grave”. But then again, I guess when you wake up in a muddy pit full of dead bodies, just about any day is a better day, amirite, kids? Check out the first trailer for “Open Grave” below. It looks a bit like a zombie movie, minus the zombies. Or one of those Big Twist movies where you find out they’re all stuck in Purgatory or something and are destined to go ’round and ’round.
I guess we’ll find out late this year or early next year, depending on how you like to view your movies. This is one of those titles that will be getting a limited theatrical release, but will make most of its bones on VOD before landing on DVD/Blu-ray.
A man (Sharlto Copley, DISTRICT 9, ELYSIUM) wakes up in a pit of dead bodies with no memory of who he is or how he got there. Fleeing the scene, he breaks into a nearby house and is met at gunpoint by a group of terrified strangers, all suffering from memory loss. Suspicion gives way to violence as the group starts to piece together clues about their identities, but when they uncover a threat that’s more vicious—and hungry—than each other, they are forced to figure out what brought them all together—before it’s too late.
Starring Sharlto Copley, Thomas Kretschmann, Josie Ho, Joseph Morgan, Erin Richards, and Max Wrottesley.
The grave opens up next year in theaters January 3rd, 2014, but will be available from a VOD vender of your choice before that on December 24th, 2013.
