Sharlto Copley and Neill Blomkamp just can’t quit each other. The duo, who got their big break with 2009’s “District 9” (and who has the upcoming “Elysium” in the pipeline), will continue bro’ing out in another sci-fi tale, this time on something called “Chappie”.
No word on what the oddly titled “Chappie” will be about, though Copley describes it as “a science-fiction comedy” in an “unusual setting.” And, if the duo’s past history are any indication, probably has a bit of social allegory in there somewhere.
With the twosome already attaching themselves to another movie not called “District 10”, it appears those people waiting for a sequel to the 2009 hit will have to wait a little while longer.
Copley isn’t all about waiting for Neill Blomkamp to cast him in a movie, though. The South African actor has a number of Blomkamp-free projects on the way, including the sci-fi “Europa Report” and the Spike Lee joint “Oldboy”, a remake of the South Korean film of the same name.
And am I the only one still holding out for that “A-Team” spin-off movie focusing on Howling Mad Murdock? Wait, I am? Oh. Nevermind, then, I guess.
