Shawn Levy, whose last movie was the better-than-expected “Real Steel”, has teamed up with Paramount to snatch up the spec script “Monster Problems” by screenwriter Brian Duffield. Levy will produce, though it’s unlikely he’ll also direct, since he’s already got a couple of films schedule, including “The Internship” with Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson.
“Monster Problems” is described as “a post-apocalyptic road movie in the vein of Mad Max and Zombieland with a John Hughes-esque love story at its center.” Or they could have just cut to the chase and call it “Zombieland with monsters”.
Billy Rosenberg and Dan Cohen will produce for Levy’s 21 Laps shingle.
The script is from Duffield, who also recently sold “Jane Got a Gun”, with Natalie Portman scheduled to produce and star.
