SHIELD Gets a Deadly New Recruit

Brett DaltonYou can add Brett Dalton to the growing cast of Joss Whedon’s “SHIELD” TV show at ABC.

The relatively unknown actor (he’s been in “Blue Bloods” and “Army Wives”, apparently — I say “apparently” because I’ve only seen sporadic episodes of “Blue Bloods”, and I’ve never seen a single second of “Army Wives”) will play Agent Grant, described as “one of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s highly-skilled rising stars. He’s deadly, precise, and cool under fire — but not so great with the people skills.”

Hey, he’s deadly, precise, and cool under fire — people skills are gratuitous at that point, I’d imagine.

Dalton adds to “SHEILD’s” two main leads, Ming-Na and Clark Gregg, the latter reprising his Agent Phil Coulson character from the Marvel movies and this summer’s massive hit “The Avengers”. Elizabeth Henstridge and Iain De Caestecker were also previously cast.

Whedon is overseeing the show, and is co-writing the script as well as directing the pilot.
