Simon Hunter Resurrects Eva Mendes’ Curve

Curve (2010) Movie, Horror Movie News — By Nix on April 6, 2009 |

It’s not that I’m particularly fascinated by a movie about a woman who is stalked by a killer after she takes an ill-advised “shortcut” while driving through New York, it’s just that I’m fascinated how a movie announced in 2007 is just now starting to move into production. Maybe. Word is, “Mutant Chronicles” director Simon Hunter has been hired to bring “Curve” back on track, but there’s no word if Eva Mendes is even still attached to star.

Variety says production on “Curve” is expected to commence within six months, with Hunter directing from a script by Kimberly Johnson. When we first talked about the movie in 2007, Eva Mendes was supposed to star. Then in 2008, the film was picked up by Scatter Light Productions, and we still assumed Mendes would star.

It’s now 2009, and a director has been attached, replacing Joseph Merhi, who is currently listed on IMDB.com as the film’s director. But there’s no word if Mendes is still our damsel in distress.

At this rate, “Curve” may finally make it to the big screen by 2010. Maybe.

Obviously my only interest in seeing “Curve” finally get made is for the art, and Eva Mendes’ acting chops. It has nothing to do with the prospect of seeing Eva Mendes running around from a killer, getting all sweaty and getting her clothes caught in things like nails and ripping and what have you. It’s purely for the acting, I assure you.
