Wow, it’s really happening. Can you believe it? It sure took them long enough to get off their ass and make it happen, that’s for sure. But it’s finally happening — “Sin City 2: A Dame to Kill For” is currently in production, with Robert Rodriguez once again co-directing alongside Frank Miller, who created the comic book series the movies are based on.
And now they’ve officially added Jaime King and Jamie Chung to the cast.
King is returning, having appeared in “Sin City” as the ill-fated Goldie. She’ll play Wendy, Goldie’s twin sister in the sequel. Chung, meanwhile, will be taking over the role of Old Town’s deadliest swordswoman Miho, previously played by Devon Aoki in the first movie. No word on why Aoki was replaced, but it could just be that Chung, with roles in “The Hangover 2”, “Premium Rush”, and “Sucker Punch” is just now way more famous.
The two will join Clive Owen, Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba and Rosario Dawson in the sequel, which will focus on the limited comic book series “A Dame to Kill For” as well as new material that Miller wrote specifically for the movie.
The sequel’s biggest casting, of course, remains that of Ava, the seductress from Dwight’s (Owen’s character) past who comes back to haunt him. Angelina Jolie would have made a perfect Ava, but I don’t see that happening. Also, a new character called Johnny, described as “a smooth gambler”, is also being cast.
