What it does mean, though, is that Josh Brolin, currently busting up gangsters in “Gangster Squad” and Spike Lee’s upcoming remake of “Oldboy”, has joined the cast of Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller’s “Sin City” sequel, “A Dame to Kill For”.
Dimension Films has officially announced the casting, with the co-directors adding:
Dwight is a constant character throughout the Sin City world and “A Dame To Kill For” is a defining episode in his life. We’re looking forward to Josh’s take on Dwight.
I guess it kind of makes sense. In the original Miller comics, Dwight did get himself a new face at one point in the story, so it’s technically correct to have two actors playing the same character. Of course, this would work much better if Clive Owen, who originally played Dwight in “Sin City”, returns for a few scenes to make the connection, though I don’t suppose it’s entirely necessarily.
“Sin City: A Dame to Kill For” is currently shooting in Austin, Texas, with Mickey Rourke as “Marv,” Jessica Alba as “Nancy,” Rosario Dawson as “Gail” and Jaime King as “Goldie/Wendy” with new cast members Joseph Gordon-Levitt as “Johnny,” Dennis Haysbert as “Manute” and Jamie Chung as “Miho.”
The sequel opens October 4, 2013.
Still no word on who is playing Ava Lord, the main female character in the story, and a woman from Dwight’s past who makes his present life overly complicated…
