Dimension Films has officially set Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller’s “Sin City” follow-up, “Sin City: A Dame to Kill For” for release on October 4, 2013, with Mickey Rourke and Jessica Alba the first official castmembers set to return as Marv and Nancy, respectively. (Curiously, while Marv has a big role in “A Dame to Kill For”, Nancy (aka the stripper as played by Jessica Alba who never actually strips) is basically just a cameo.)
The sequel is also in talks with other original castmembers to return, and promises “huge names” to fill out the sequel’s new characters. One of those huge new characters would be Ava, the “dame” of the title, Damien Lord her husband, and Manute, Ava’s mountain of a bodyguard. There are also a couple of cops later on in the story.
The press release wouldn’t reveal any plot details, but given that Miller already wrote/drew the story in the comic book mini-series “A Dame to Kill For”, we can pretty much expect the movie to follow the comics pretty closely. In which case, Dwight McCarthy (played by Clive Owen in the original) will most definitely be back, along with Old Town dames Gail and Miho, played by Rosario Dawson and Devon Aoki in the first movie.
Production on “Sin City: A Dame to Kill For” is expected to begin this Summer at Rodriguez’s Troublemaker Studios in Austin, Texas.
