Excited for Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller’s return to Sin City? Well unfortunately you’ll have to wait a little bit longer for “Sin City: A Dame to Kill For”, as the film has now been officially delayed and moved back almost an entirely year.
Originally slated for October 4, 2013, the long-awaited Dimension Films comic book sequel will now instead bow almost a year later on August 22, 2014.
I can’t say I’m surprised. I always did think the film’s 2013 release date was a tad optimistic, especially considering that they were still casting people just months ago. The film has a huge number of green screen work, and honestly, I’d rather see them take their time on it and do it right instead of rushing the effects into theaters.
Another reason why they’re delaying the film, I think, is that it’s worked for a couple of other high-profile movies. Both “G.I. Joe: Retaliation” and “Man of Steel” were delayed almost an entire year, and that didn’t hurt their box office whatsoever. I’m sure Rodriguez and company were looking at that when they decided to push “A Dame to Kill For” over to 2014.
The sequel is set to star Josh Brolin, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Jessica Alba, Rosario Dawson, Jaime King, Mickey Rourke, Bruce Willis, Eva Green, Jamie Chung, and will be in part based on the comic book by Frank Miller.
