Sin Tae-ra’s Runway Cop is Kind of Like Miss Congeniality. Except, You Know, Different.

Take the Sandra Bullock movie “Miss Congeniality” — a movie that’s actually more entertaining than it has any right to be — and replace her character with a guy. A greasy, long-haired, Martin Riggs kind of cop that doesn’t really spend a lot of time worrying about how he looks or smells. That’s pretty much Sin Tae-ra’s “Runway Cop” in a nutshell. An dirty detective goes undercover as a pretty woman to solve a crime. And it sounds awesome.

The film’s star, Kang Ji-Hwan, gained almost 20 pounds (10 kg) to portray the sloppy Detective Cha. Who needs a fat suit when you have commitment and dedication. Unfortunately, the teaser doesn’t give us a good look at our hero in drag, though the poster kind of gives us an idea of what’s in store. It’s interesting, to say the least. “Runway Cop” should hit South Korean theaters this May.

When you’re ready, the teaser demands your attention.

Todd was raised on a steady diet of Hollywood blockbusters, late-night Cinemax programming, and USA’s “Up All Night,” which may explain why his taste in movies is more than a little questionable. When he isn’t providing news and reviews for Beyond Hollywood, he can be found lounging lazily on his couch, perched in front of his television, or dwelling in places where direct sunlight can be easily avoided. He's happily married, in his 30's, and totally badass. If you'd like to reach Todd, you can follow him on Twitter or send him email/scoops to todd (at)
