Six Minutes (and Then Some) of Lens Flaring Goodness from J.J. Abrams’ Super 8

Man, J.J. Abrams sure loves his lens flares. Of course, at this point I think he’s just throwing them into his movies to piss off fanboys who complain about Abrams loving his lens flares. See, he’s cool that way. Or hip. Or something. Anyways, with the film set to open this Friday, the studio has finally decided to unleash their best, longest look at the film yet — a six minute clip through MSN that includes the train wreck scene that you’ve seen, oh, I don’t know, a gazillion times already. At one point, Paramount even released the wreckage scene in like five separate snippets. Now that’s economy clippage! (Note: We’ve added two more clips from the movie.)

Set in Ohio in 1979, a troupe of six youngsters are using a Super 8 camera to make their own zombie movie. One fateful night, their project takes them to a lonely stretch of rural railroad tracks and, as the camera rolls, calamity strikes – a truck collides with an oncoming locomotive and a hellacious derailment fills the night with screaming metal and raining fire. Then something emerges from the wreckage, something decidedly inhuman.

Starring Kyle Chandler, Elle Fanning, Ron Eldard, Noah Emmerich, Gabriel Basso, Joel Courtney, Riley Griffiths, Ryan Lee, Zach Mills, AJ Michalka and directed by J.J. Abrams.

Lens flaring the hell outta your nerves this Friday.
