It’s curious that through all six clips from McG’s “This Means War” and we don’t see a single glimpse, or even a mention of a villain even existing in the movie. There’s gotta be one, right? I think we both know that neither Chris Pine or Tom Hardy’s CIA spies are actually bad guys in this one, they’re just BFFs who happen to be fighting for the same girl, and really, haven’t we all been there? I suspect that’ll get put on the back burner once a bad guy shows up, probably around the hour mark.
Of course, if you were to just go by the six clips below, you’d think the whole movie is entirely about Pine and Hardy romancing Reese Witherspoon and trying to one-up each other for the entire movie. That’s probably in keeping with the film’s Valentine’s Day release date, which the film’s PR is hitting pretty hard in the TV ads. Romance for the ladies and action for the guys, if you will. Could work.
Also starring comedian Chelsea Handler as the sex-obsessed best friend (I guess the gay best friend was too cliche), Laura Vandervoort, Til Schweiger, Abigail Spencer, Angela Bassett, and directed by “Terminator Salvation’s” McG.
Fighting for your hearts and wallets February 14, 2012.
