Bond’s loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.
Now rumors are popping up all over the Interwebs that M’s “troubles” may lead to something drastic in the Bond universe.
POTENTIAL SPOILERS BELOW
According to MovieWeb, an insider at EON Productions tells them that Ralph Fiennes’ character has no name in the movie, but that he’ll definitely be playing “an MI6 agent”.
So why wouldn’t he have a name? Turns out, that’s because, according to the insider, Fiennes’ character will be assuming a new role — as the franchise’s new M, replacing Judi Dench as the head of MI6, and Bond’s new boss.
Adds the insider:
Skyfall centers around M (Judi Dench) where her past forces her to leave as head of MI6, and find a new M. The board of MI6 then turns to a government agent (Ralph Fiennes) to take over. M (Dame Judi) is now forced to train the new head of MI6.
The Bond movies have always been pretty unconcern with timelines and continuity, so I don’t suppose it matters if they swap M’s. How many times have they swapped Q? Unless, of course, you really liked Dench as M. (And, of course, assuming this is true.)
“Skyfall”, the 23rd Bond movie, also stars Javier Bardem as the baddie, with Naomie Harris and Bérénice Marlohe providing the Bond eye candy. Sam Mendes of “American Beauty” fame is directing.
Look for it in November of 2012.
