Smallville Creators Visit Salisbury

Salisbury Movie — By Nix on December 5, 2008

The last we heard from Al Gough and Miles Millar, the creators of Smallville, they had just dumped the aging CW show (kinda ironic that we can now use the word “aging” without batting an eyelid for a show about Superman’s “younger” years, huh?) for greener pastures. One of those is a supernatural movie based on their spec script called “Salisbury”. What is that, a steak? Not quite. It’s actually a town where (no doubt young and pretty people with ridiculously hard abs and luxurious golden locks) engage in supernatural activities. Or something to that effect.

Variety has more:

Gough and Millar will produce the film in a package deal worth seven figures. The pair have a first-look deal with Disney, and they just produced “Hannah Montana: The Movie” for the studio.

Disney and the scribes are keeping the plot under wraps, but the title refers to a fictional town. The plot revolves around a young cast and a supernatural element. The film is expected to cost around $40 million.

Wow. From Superman to Hannah Montana. I don’t know whether to be freaked out or incredibly impressed by Gough and Millar’s ability to stretch. Their other movie credits include “The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor” and “Spider-Man 2″, as well as the upcoming “Robotech”.

It is expected that the writing duo will make “Salisbury” their directorial debut.

Below: The below pic from Smallville has nothing to do with “Salisbury”, but it was the only time I ever bothered to watch a whole episode of Smallville.
