I guess you could say that Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor is “cranking up” the production on their movie sequel, “Crank 2”? Wow, that was lame. Anyhow, news from Variety is that the writing/directing duo have brought back Amy Smart, Dwight Yoakam, and Efren Ramirez from the original film to join star Jason Statham in the sequel, tentatively titled “High Voltage”.
Amy Smart, as you’ll recall, played the hot-to-trot (though oblivious) girlfriend to Statham’s improbably named Chev Chelios; she had no idea he was a hitman until he confessed to her, after which they ended up screwing in front of a bus load of Japanese people, but then again, who hasn’t?
Country star Yoakam will reprise his role as Chelios’ backroom doctor, and Efren Ramirez as Kaylo, Chelios’ point man on the street.
Meanwhile, actor Clifton Collins Jr. is added to the cast as Chelios’ latest Big Boss, while Bai Ling, also new to the cast, will probably do what she does best — play a really slutty character who wears very little clothes. No, wait, that’s Bai Ling in person. My bad.
More about the plot of “Crank 2”:
In “Crank 2,” Chelios faces a mobster who has stolen his nearly indestructible heart and replaced it with a battery-powered ticker that requires regular jolts of electricity to keep working.
So how are they going to “kill” Chelios this time, throw him out of a moving train, onto the tracks, and have a couple of trains run him over? Could happen.
