The last time we heard from Smokin’ Joe and his prequel to his hitman-a-thon flick “Smokin’ Aces”, it was more than a year ago, when Joe told fans of via his blog that the studio “flipped” for his script, which means they liked it. At least, that’s what they told him. If you’ve followed Hollywood for any length of time, you’ll come to realize that studios always “love” a script — at least until they bring someone else to rewrite it. That just comes with the territory. So, it was no surprise that more than a year after the studio “flipped” for Carnahan’s script, we’ve just now gotten word from Smokin’ Joe himself that the prequel to “Smokin’ Aces” has finally been given the greenlight to go ahead with production.
Say it’s so, Joe:
Finally, some actual ‘Smokin Aces’ news. Universal has officially greenlit the prequel and we are underway. Cameos will abound. Trust me.
Cameos will abound. Got it.
Word is, the sequel will go directly to DVD, despite Carnahan returning as writer and director. This is pretty much an oddity in the world of direct-to-DVD. Usually, the original crew never returns if their movie is getting shafted to Blockbusters. Of course, things might have changed, and the prequel might land in theaters.
Below: Okay, okay, so “No” means “No”. Geez, chill why doncha?
