AMC has been doing original webisodes for “The Walking Dead”, featuring original characters and situations since the very first season, though I only watched a few episodes of the first one. They’ve also done original webisodes for the second and third season, but I never bothered to watch those. If they don’t have any relevance to the show proper, I’m not that interested.
For the fourth season’s webisodes, they got Ashley Bell, star of the “Last Exorcism” movies as the female lead, and that sort of got my attention. I don’t know if the other webisodes had this kind of marquee name before, but I don’t think so. I guess it also points to the popularity of “The Walking Dead”, that they can get people like Bell to do webisodes that probably most viewers will never watch.
The three-part webisodes is called “The Oath”, and it follows Paul and Karina as they “escape their ravaged and overrun camp, but a mortal injury sends them on an urgent mission to find medical help.” Things, as you might expect, do not go well.
Watch all three episodes below. Greg Nicotero, who directed the “Walking Dead” Season 4 premiere episode (airing this October 13th on AMC) also directed “The Oath”.
