Snow White and the Huntsman Dwarf Casting Continues to be Not All That Dwarf-y

It’s still unclear if Universal’s “Snow White and the Huntsman”, their upcoming Rupert Sanders-directed “re-envisioning” of the famous fairy tale will feature actors “dwarfed” by way of CG for the movie (ala the Hobbits in Peter Jackson’s “Lord of the Rings” trilogy), or if it will star regular sized actors playing “dwarf” characters who are actually not dwarfs in this new take. Yeah, I’m confused, too.

Anyways, days after Ian McShane was cast as Caesar, leader of the dwarfs, Heat Vision reports more casting is under way, including Eddie Izzard, Bob Hoskins and Toby Jones, with Eddie Marsan and Steven Graham also in talks to sign up. Apparently the dwarfs here will be kinda long in the tooth, since I don’t think anyone of the names listed is under 50. At least, it’s completely different from what Relativity is doing with their version of “Snow White”, which is to cast actual dwarfs in the role.

In the film, Jones will play a timid dwarf named Claudius, Izzard is Tiberius, the biggest of the bunch, while Hoskins will play Constantine, a blind dwarf.

They join Kristen Stewart, who is playing Snow White, while Chris Hemsworth will play the Huntsman, whose character is tasked with hunting down and killing Snow White, but decides to help her overthrow her evil stepmother the Queen (Charlize Theron) instead. Kids nowadays, right?

Update: You can also add Ray Winstone to the list of dwarfs — thus making it seven.
