According to Zack Snyder, who is currently out doing the promo rounds for the impending DVD release of “Watchmen’s” Director’s Cut, Frank Miller is currently writing and drawing a “300” sequel as he speaks, so it’s definitely not a question of if a sequel will happen, but when. Then again, Frank Miller has been known to let a deadline or two slip away, so maybe we shouldn’t be too sure this thing will actually happen. But hey, let’s go with it happening, since that’s so much more preferable.
But when a sequel does happen, Synder told Comingsoon this about how they would approach it, and where the sequel would go:
“I think we would use the same technology… I don’t want it to look too Star Wars-ian… Just from what [Miller] told me, it would be bigger as far as landscape and terrain. We’re going to see Athens and the Aegean and other places. There would be an opportunity for bigger visions, though I’d hope for the same aesthetic. The tech we used for ‘300’ was not a revolution. It’s basically what the weatherman has. Look, instead of Accuweather it’s Sparta… It’s going to be the same way, but on crazier steroids.”
With the less than spectacular reception of “Watchmen”, and depending on what happens with his all-girl flick “Sucker Punch”, Snyder may be itching to head back to Ancient Greece in another year or two. Of course, ol Frank needs a hit, too, after the disaster that was “The Spirit”.
