And here I thought Jason Bourne was just a badass because he knew how to kick ass thanks to good ol Government Assassin Training and such. That, and the fact that his opponents were probably not used to all the shaky camera stuff that takes place everytime he fought someone. You know, those things can be pretty disorienting. Anyways, as it turns out, Jason Bourne and Aaron Cross, the new hero of the “Bourne” films, are actually genetic experiments. Or something. I don’t claim to know anything about genetics, but it sure sounds like they’re setting up the Bourne guys as lab-created supersoldiers. I can’t wait for the fifth movie in the franchise: “Attack of the Bournes!” (Call me, Hollywood!)
The narrative architect behind the Bourne film series, Tony Gilroy, takes the helm in the next chapter of the hugely popular espionage franchise that has earned almost $1 billion at the global box office: The Bourne Legacy. The writer/director expands the Bourne universe created by Robert Ludlum with an original story that introduces us to a new hero (Jeremy Renner) whose life-or-death stakes have been triggered by the events of the first three films.
Starring Jeremy Renner as the new Bourne guy, with Edward Norton, Rachel Weisz, Joan Allen, Albert Finney, Corey Stoll, Oscar Isaac, Scott Glenn, and Stacy Keach’s awesome mustache.
Tony “Narrative Architect” Gilroy writes and directs “The Bourne Legacy”, due to punch you in the face August 10, 2012.
