David Fincher has several films on his docket at the moment, but one of his more anticipated projects is The Goon, which is based on a comic book about a brawler who works for the enforcer Labrazio…and battles hordes of evil zombies in the process. Comic books always have some strange twist to the concept. Comic Book Resources talked to the original author of The Goon, Eric Powell, about the upcoming issues and the plans for the CG animated film version:
“I just finished writing the script a few months back, and Blur is working on a lot of test stuff. Fincher is working on a film right now, so we’re waiting for him to get some space so we can start showing some of this stuff off. I’m pretty happy with everything so far. We’ve just got to work to get to the next point. This is a slow, long process.
That David Fincher film is, of course, The Social Network, which he is hard at work directing. Fincher hasn’t totally decided whether he will take the reigns of The Goon, but Powell confirms that Fincher should at least be heavily involved. Clancy Brown and Paul Giamatti at least so far have signed up to voice the two lead characters. I’ve always had a secret desire to see Paul Giamatti battle zombies: first the British, then his own insecurities, and now the undead.
