Solomon Kane R2 DVD and Blu-ray Cover Art and Specs

Michael J. Bassett’s “Solomon Kane” was supposed to launch a franchise based on the Robert E. Howard character, but if lackluster theatrical showings and no U.S. release is any indication, that seems to have been a non-starter. Which is too bad. I kind of liked the film, though admittedly it wasn’t perfect by any means. In any case, if you missed it in the theaters or are still waiting for it Stateside, your best bet to see it might be on DVD. The film is due out on Region 2 DVD and Blu-ray in the UK on June 28th, 2010 from Entertainment in Video. Check out the cover art and specs for both formats (via DVDActive).

Solomon Kane is a former member of the fleet of Elizabeth I. He renounces violence to save his soul from the devil, but soon realizes, that not all evil can be overcome by peace…

For those of us in the USA who have only seen the trailer and have
waited and waited for this movie to be released here in America, all I can say is I can't wait to get the DVD! It's a shame it never made it to the big screen here because from what I have seen of the trailers for it, it is gonna be fabulous. I have not seen the whole movie so I am going on faith but I tell you all that James Purefoy never disappoints! He is one of the best actors I have ever seen and definately one of my favorites!

It would have been great if Solomon Kane would have been released as a series of movies, especially since there are like 7 books, and they are famous and the story is so brilliant. Hopefully some studio will decide to pick it up and run with it, but in the meantime, there are some loyal James Purefoy fans in the USA who want to see this movie asap!
