Sorry, Fox, Mark Romanek Has No Interesting In Directing The Wolverine

For a film with a major star and a major brand name, Fox sure is having difficulty finding a director for their “The Wolverine” with Hugh Jackman. (As you may have heard, Darren Aronofsky, who was attached to direct, bailed.) A lot of names have been tossed around as a possible replacement, but you can officially cross Mark Romanek off the list. The “Never Let Me Go” and “One Hour Photo” director recently confirmed that he has read the script, but decided it wasn’t his thing, though he was very diplomatic about.

Romanek tells Digital Spy:

That’s just one of those stories that floated around. I was on their list, I received the script months ago. It didn’t seem like my kind of thing. That script was a terrific version of that kind of thing, but not something I felt really passionate about.

Other names on the list includes “Source Code’s” Duncan Jones, Doug Liman, and “Fast Five’s” Justin Lin, who after the success of “Fast Five”, is basically on everyone’s “short list” for every big high-profile project at the moment. Of course, short lists are like you know what, everyone has one.

I had all buyt written off any chance of a decent Wolverine movie after the debacle that was Gavin Hood’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
That being said, as I saw the cameo in ‘First Class’ I was again exited by the idea of seeing the Ol’ Canucklehead back in action!
Say what you will about ‘The Last Stand’ and ‘XOW’ Hugh Jackman is Wolverine!
With a better script and the right director Logan is still a character worth checking out.

I guess the story is awful. Just like Wolverine: Origins. That’s why everybody’s rejecting it.

Man!. Jackman is in his 40′s. He can’t do this role for a long time now. They need to write the equivalent of Dark Knight Returns for Wolverine. Something good, or the character will lose the grip.

Jmm… Now that I think of, Jackman growing old is not an issue for the character. he could still appear older on a Marvel mutant movie set in the future.

    Days of Future-Past?. Anyone?

they should have Wes Craven do it…he would probably do a real great job with it…
