We haven’t really seen a whole lot of advertising for Will Smith’s “After Earth” yet, except for a trailer. Mind you, not that it matters all that much. It’s a Will Smith movie. It’s gonna make a mint with or without advertising. Though I’m sure Sony will be pumping out the advertising budget soon enough.
Anyways, according to the trailer we’ve seen for M. Night Shyamalan’s sci-fi actioner “After Earth”, it looked like the Smiths had only evolved Earth animals to contend with. But as it turns out, this new synopsis from Sony reveals a secondary (perhaps more dangerous) threat to father and son:
A crash landing leaves teenager Kitai Raige (Jaden Smith) and his legendary father Cypher (Will Smith) stranded on Earth, 1,000 years after cataclysmic events forced humanity’s escape. With Cypher critically injured, Kitai must embark on a perilous journey to signal for help, facing uncharted terrain, evolved animal species that now rule the planet, and an unstoppable alien creature that escaped during the crash. Father and son must learn to work together and trust one another if they want any chance of returning home.
Get that? “An unstoppable alien creature” that’s out to get’em, probably because they locked it up and such. That always puts unstoppable alien creatures in a bad mood, or so I’ve heard.
“After Earth” also stars Isabelle Fuhrman, Zoë Kravitz, Sophie Okonedo, and seeks out help this June 7, 2013.
Here’s the trailer. See if you can spot that unstoppable alien creature now that you know what to look out for:
