Source Code: The TV Show Coming to CBS

The Source Code is coming to TV.

Now before you get all afluttered, just think about it. The movie itself is essentially a variation on the long-running TV show “Quantum Leap” starring Scott Bakula and Dean Stockwell, and like that movie, “Source Code” as a weekly TV show is a no-brainer.

THR reports that producer Mark Gordon, who produced the Duncan Jones-directed movie of the same name starring Jake Gyllenhaal, is bringing the idea to CBS, where “Source Code” the TV show will follow “three former federal agents who are part of a top-secret program. Each week, they’ll use “Source Code” technology to jump into the consciousness of people involved in tragic events.”

That premise is obviously different from the movie, and I presume the whole patching into the Source Code angle will also get a makeover. (If you’ve seen the movie, you’ll know what I’m talking about. The method in the movie doesn’t exactly lend itself to an ongoing, weekly TV show.)

Gordon will produce the show, with Steve Maeda (a producer on “Lost” and “Lie to Me”, as well as a writer on “The X-Files”) writing the pilot script.
