Going to the doctor can be scary, particularly if the physician in question is a stark-raving lunatic. Director Kim Sung-Hong’s upcoming South Korean thriller, the aptly-titled “Doctor,” chronicles one medical professional’s spiral into sheer madness. The trailer promises plenty of stabbings, so if you have an aversion to scalpels, then you may want to find something else to watch.
Let me be completely upfront: The film’s premise is really nothing new. However, I think director Kim Sung-Hong does pretty good work. “Missing” was a taut and tidy flick, so I’m curious to see what he does with “Doctor.” However, if you’ve grown tired of typical South Korean thrillers, then it’s unlikely you’ll go out of your way to seek this one out. Judging from the trailer, anyway.
Here’s a proper synopsis:
A plastic surgeon performs strange body experiments on his victims. A woman then goes to the plastic surgeon to seek out the perfect body. Through the surgery the women does receive the perfect body but also must now live out two seperate lives.
“Doctor” stars Kim Chang-Wan, Bae So-Eun, Seo Geun-Woo, and Han Da-Eun. The latest trailer and two posters for the flick have been embedded below. South Korean moviegoers will be able to experience the thriller in theaters on June 20, 2013.
