Gee, I hope the organizers of the “Spartacus: War of the Damned” panel at Comic Con at least warned the audiences first before they showed this brief teaser trailer for the upcoming third season of the show. Besides being uber epic in scope (battlefields! armies of hundreds and thousands! massive battles!), the teaser also features plenty of the red stuff, with its characters, literally, drenched in the blood of enemies. I know some of you Comic Con crowd can be a little squeamish.
The third and final season of “Spartacus”, titled “War of the Damned”, arrives on the pay cable network Starz in January of next year. Until then, get your fill of Roman bloodletting at its finest in a quickie Comic Con teaser trailer and new images from the upcoming season.
In case you’re wondering why “Spartacus” is ending its run after only three years despite blockbuster ratings for the cable net, perhaps this article will lend some light.
A site called Funeralwise.com actually did an honest-to-goodness study of 300 TV episodes and found that the second season of “Spartacus: Vengeance” contained, on average-per-episode, the most deaths of any show on TV, with 25. It easily beat out the #2 show on their list, “Game of Thrones”, which came in at a measly 18 deaths per episode.
