Spidey and the Lizard Tangle in Excellent New Amazing Spider-Man Trailer

Andrew Garfield in The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) Movie Image

Looks like a certain arachnid superhero wants some attention, too. In a week that’s seen an epic new trailer from Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Rises” and Joss Whedon’s “The Avengers” due in theaters in less than a day, Marc Webb and the boys at Sony have decided what you need in your diet is a little spider. A rebooted Spider-Man, that is. So, check out a new (second full) trailer for Webb’s “The Amazing Spider-Man”, which also comes with two new official images of Rhys Ifan’s The Lizard, and why not, ol Lizzie sure features pretty heavily in the new trailer. And yes, I didn’t think it was possible, but I’m really digging Spidey’s new mask and “goggles” look.

“The Amazing Spider-Man” finds Andrew Garfield slipping into the red and blue tights as Peter Parker, who, in this new take on the familiar tale, has to deal with high school, a new girlfriend, and the previously untold backstory of his parents. Which I suppose is a novel approach to the story. It’s not like we’ve ever really known all that much about Spidey’s family aside from his soon-to-be-shot Uncle Ben and Aunt May, so that should give this reboot some much-needed “newness”.

And oh yeah, Spidey has to fight the Lizard and such.

Co-starring Emma Stone, Denis Leary, Martin Sheen, Sally Fields, Julianne Nicholson, Campbell Scott, Rhys Ifan, Irrfan Khan, Annie Parisse, and Chris Zylka.

Slinging it into theaters July 3, 2012.

I can’t believe anyone is excited about this movie. Starting with the first trailer that was mostly a first person view as if you’re playing some lame Spiderman fps to the heretical revision of adding a sinister element to his dad – which was never canon in the comic.

Then you have the lesser annoyance of a non-American actor playing an iconic American superhero that’s sold more comics than Superman – who will also not be an American actor. Grrr.

Finally it’s just too soon since the last franchise of Spiderman. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy they’re introducing Lizard man since Raimi never did but it’s barely been five years since the last franchise ended. Do we really have that short an attention span?

This movie has done nothing to make me feel anything more than bored every time I see a trailer. From the odd choice of first person camera work that makes it look like outtakes from The Amazing Race to that Spidey costume that looks like they murdered the entire basketball supply of the Harlem Globetrotters.

This will tank. And I’ll have the bittersweet pleasure of bumping this comment to show everyone I predicted it.

What if it doesn’t tank? what will you do? hide away into the internet night of obscurity? Admit you were wrong? Deny to yourself that it was actually good and bs why it was still bad?

The movie looks good and Emma Stone makes any movie better.

      1. The Sam Raimi films were terrible and didn’t resemble the comic version of Spidey in the slightest. For that reason a reboot this early was completely necessary.
      2. You’re obviously just a stubborn person that doesn’t like change, no matter what it is.
      3. Who cares if he’s not american? This is what actors do, THEY ACT. Andrew Garfield has proven himself to be a great actor, and just from these trailers I already see him as the true Peter Parker, not awful Tobey Maguire.
      4. If british actors playing american characters is such a problem for you, then you must not like christopher nolans batman films because christian bale isn’t american either. Is that what you’re telling me?

Let’s not forget that Superman is now British too. I agree with EVERYTHING you’ve stated here 100% and this trailer just made me a full beleiver. I was skeptical at first, and the first trailer really didn’t do it for me but the last two have and the latest pics have. I mean THIS is a true version of Spiderman. The Lizard trying to mutate everyone like him, straight from the comics! I really can’t wait for this! ANOTHER greta summer for CBMS!!!

at first i was like hell nah! then i saw this preview and i was like HELL YAAAAAAAAA!!!!

raimi’s movies are good but lets not lie they were very diluted stories, somewhat campy and
tobey mcquire was terrible and way too fruity. i dont even know this kid so he brings up no complaints to me. the lizard looks cool.

my one gripe is that it looks like spidey will lose his mask for the big fight at the end and i really dislike how raimi did that in all three of the last movies, and now its not even him and its happening again???
    weaksauce!!
