Stanley Tucci Will Menace Jack the Giant Killer

I’m anxious to see what Bryan Singer does with “Jack the Giant Killer”. Really, I am. I had zero desire to see Tom Cruise fighting Nazis, but a human kid battling giants to save a princess? Now that’s something I can sink my teeth into.

The latest word on Singer’s “Giant Killer” has Stanley Tucci, who will next be seen pumping skinny Steve Rogers full of super soldier serum in Joe Johnston’s “Captain America” movie, signing on to play the baddie. Tucci’s villainous role will find him playing “an advisor to the king with designs on usurping power.” I’m guessing that means he’ll either partly or wholly responsible for igniting the film’s war between humans and giants by way of the capture princess.

Also joining Singer’s “Giant Killer” will be Bill Nighy and John Kassir. The two actors will be playing the same character — Fallon, the two-headed leader of the giants, with Nighy the big head while Kassir gets the smaller one.

There are no words on who will be playing Jack, but rumor has Nicholas Hoult (below, currently young Beast in Matthew Vaughn’s” X-Men: First Class”) as your frontrunner. Being that Singer is also producing “First Class”, and has seen Hoult in person and at work, that’s probably a good bet.

Singer is really hit or miss with me. Generally I initially enjoy what he does but not enough to put him at the top or anything. It’s an odd place. But also really interested as you mention in seeing what he does with this one.

Tucci on the other hand…quality and nothing but. One of the most underrated actors out there. It’s good to see him getting a lot of work and some more recognition.
