Nix March 31, 2010 POSTED IN » Step Up 3D (2010) Movie

From Jon Chu, the director who gave you “Step Up 2: The Streets” comes … “Step Up 3″ … 3D!!!!! Well, glad to know even dance geeks are no better than movie fanboys and have fallen prey to the 3D monster. Check out the trailer for “Step Up 3D”, featuring plenty of groovy dancing IN YO FACE! Ahem. I know, not exactly our cup of tea around these here parts, but slap me on the thigh and call me Shirley, you gotta enjoy life every now and then, and that includes watching a silly movie where people take dancing way too seriously. Plus, it’s in 3D!!!!

New York’s intense street dancing underground comes alive in eye-popping Digital 3D in the third installment of the ‘Step Up’ franchise as the raw, passion-fueled culture goes global. A tight-knit group of street dancers, including Luke (Rick Malambri) and Natalie (Sharni Vinson), team up with NYU freshman Moose (Adam Sevani), and find themselves pitted against the world’s best hip hop dancers in a high-stakes showdown that will change their lives forever.

Starring Harry Shum Jr., Adam G. Sevani, Ally Maki, Sharni Vinson, Kylie Goldstein, Rick Malambri, Christopher Scott, Luis Rosado, Ruby Feliciano, Monique Dupree, Kendra Andrews, and directed by Jon Chu.

Step up (in 3D!!!) August 6, 2010.

Okay look I liked “You got served” cause it actually told a story. A cliched story, but an actual story nonetheless. Never saw the first two “Step Up” films and have no desire to see them. I’ll look up the dance offs on YouTube. My point is that it’s pretty much the same story being told over and over again. And why doesn’t one of these films have any people of color in the protagonists roles. Seriously? Most street dancers I’ve seen are of color, not saying there aren’t caucasian dancers (there are alot and damned good too) but still. It’s like we have to have our OWN films like “You Got Served” and “Stomp the Yard!” At least Spectacular SPiderman the series gets it right by changing some of the races of supporting characters because NY is so diverse.
