Stephenie Meyer’s The Host to Invade Theaters in 2013

Oh, boy! If the world doesn’t conveniently end in 2012, everyone will get to see director Andrew Niccol’s adaptation of best-selling author Stephenie Meyer’s sci-fi yarn “The Host” on the big screen. That’s right, kids — the good folks over at Open Road Films have boldly announced that the film is tentatively scheduled to invade movie theaters all across the United States on March 29th, 2013. You know you’ve already programmed the date into your iPhone. Don’t lie.

Not familiar with “The Host”? Here’s what the story’s all about:

Melanie Stryder refuses to fade away. The earth has been invaded by a species that take over the minds of human hosts while leaving their bodies intact. Wanderer, the invading “soul” who has been given Melanie’s body, didn’t expect to find its former tenant refusing to relinquish possession of her mind.

As Melanie fills Wanderer’s thoughts with visions of Jared, a human who still lives in hiding, Wanderer begins to yearn for a man she’s never met. Reluctant allies, Wanderer and Melanie set off to search for the man they both love.

Remember: March 29th, 2013. Clear your calendars, text your friends, and schedule your holidays. Deep down in your heart, you know you need to be there.

Todd was raised on a steady diet of Hollywood blockbusters, late-night Cinemax programming, and USA’s “Up All Night,” which may explain why his taste in movies is more than a little questionable. When he isn’t providing news and reviews for Beyond Hollywood, he can be found lounging lazily on his couch, perched in front of his television, or dwelling in places where direct sunlight can be easily avoided. He's happily married, in his 30's, and totally badass. If you'd like to reach Todd, you can follow him on Twitter or send him email/scoops to todd (at)
