You know, I don’t even plan on seeing “Fanboys” (I’m not that big a Star Wars fan, even though I love sci-fi, but Star Wars just doesn’t do it for me), but man, this whole hullabaloo about what’s going on with the Weinsteins and the movie “Fanboys” (and their fanboys) — more details about the feud here — is just too good to be true. The latest update is that Steve Brill, the director brought in to reshoot “Fanboys”, has incurred the wrath of the fanboys, and some of them have somehow gotten their greasy little hands on his email, leading to the exchanges below. Warning: FOUL LANGUAGE!
The exchange of emails comes from Cinematical, who says they have confirmed that the man replying to the fanboys is, indeed, director Steve Brill, whose most recent film was “Drillbit Taylor”.
You suck for re-cutting ‘fanboys’
You really do.
U suck for e mailing me your bullsh*t whining. U r gonna like fanboys better because of me and then u can kiss my ass
Nice! And another:
I had contacted my theatres booking agent when I first heard about “Fanboys. ” I thought it would be an uplifting and funny change of pace for our theatres.
Now, I realize that it will be the same cut and dried mainstream junk that has been habitually littering our auditoriums.
I am going to contact my booker and suggest that as a company, we do not pick up this film for presentation. You have ruined a wonderful concept.
No. Please god. No Chris… please no. Don’t wield your power against us. I was just trying to help. Please Christopher don’t hold it against the movie. We’ll do anything to gain your trust. You seem so important and so knowledgeable, obviously you have formed a real considered opinion and the fact that you will not book us into your theatre is so unfair. I implore you sir please reconsider. Direct your wrath at me, but don’t take it out on the movie….. What can we do to appease you Chris? You dumb cu*t. E mail me again and I will hunt you down f**ker… try me.
Dude, Steve Brill rocks.
Now look, I respect what the fanboys are doing (protesting the Weinsteins to save their movie), but come on, you don’t email a man you’ve never met, and whose work you have yet to see (maybe Brill made the movie better — hey, it could happen!) and talk trash to him, and expect him not to talk trash back.
Although I have to say, the second email to the second fanboy was a bit much on Brill’s part, but he had probably gotten really riled up by then from all the other emails calling him names.
I can’t say I blame the guy for going off on them, but I sure hope this “Fanboy” fiasco continues. It’s just too fun!
