Steven R. Monroe’s Mongolian Death Worm Heads to Region 1 DVD

The next time you have a free moment in your insanely chaotic lives, be sure to give some thanks to the folks who work those long, hard hours over at SyFy. If not for them, my love for the proverbial “creature feature” may never have been rekindled. Not only do I have a Bluray copy of “Sharktopus” on the way, I’m also the proud owner of “Mega Piranha”, a film I happen to hold in very high regard. I’m going to ask you not to judge me on this one, but I’m pretty sure you already have. Much appreciated.

Lionsgate — a company I often shake my angry first at — is planning to unleash director and co-writer Steven R. Monroe’s goofy science fiction actioner “Mongolian Death Worm” on April 26th, 2011. As far as I can tell, the film will not appear on Bluray, though I’m hoping this is just an oversight on my part. The film, which stars Sean Patrick Flanery, Drew Waters, George Cheung, Victoria Pratt, and Cheryl Chin, follows the exploits of a group of American oil company employees as they begin drilling in the Mongolian desert. One guess as to what they unearth. Go on — give it a try.

Author: Todd Rigney

Todd was raised on a steady diet of Hollywood blockbusters, late-night Cinemax programming, and USA’s “Up All Night,” which may explain why his taste in movies is more than a little questionable. When he isn’t providing news and reviews for Beyond Hollywood, he can be found lounging lazily on his couch, perched in front of his television, or dwelling in places where direct sunlight can be easily avoided. He's happily married, in his 30's, and totally badass. If you'd like to reach Todd, you can follow him on Twitter or send him email/scoops to todd (at)
