Nothing screams the holidays quite like Steven Seagal phoning in a performance. And while I’m not suggesting that’s the case with “Force of Execution,” the odds are definitely not on his side. Sorry, big guy. I’ve seen “Black Dawn,” “Out of Reach,” and “Out for a Kill” a little under a dozen times each. I know your game inside and out.
Written by Richard Beattie and Michael Black and directed by Keoni Waxman, “Force of Execution” finds Seagal portraying a mob boss who eventually squares off against another gangster. At least he’s not playing a former military type who’s out to save the world this time around. That alone is worth a look, I suppose.
Here’s how Anchor Bay describes the flick:
Steven Seagal stars as mob kingpin Mr. Alexander, an old-school boss who rules his criminal empire with both nobility and brutality. But when a simple prison hit goes wrong, he’ll ignite a war between a cold-blooded gangster known as The Iceman (Ving Rhames of MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE and PULP FICTION), a disgraced former protégé (Taekwondo World Champion Bren Foster of Fight Science), a merciless Mexican cartel, and an ex-con shopkeeper (Danny Trejo of MACHETE KILLS) with some unexpected skills of his own. The lines are drawn. The fuse is lit. And in a citywide massacre measured in pain, fear, honor and vengeance, the ultimate power belongs to the FORCE OF EXECUTION.
Stevel Seagal unveils his “Force of Execution” (what does that mean, anyway?) on December 17, 2013. If you missed the trailer, then help yourself to the goodies below.
