I’m ashamed to say that it’s been a while since I’ve watched a Johnnie To movie, and I feel bad about it. Really, really bad. I grew up on Johnnie To. I’ve loved almost every single thing the guy has done (even some of his romantic comedies, and Hong Kong romcoms were never my speed), and one of these days I’m going to make up for ignoring the man for so long and go to town on some of his films that I’ve missed out on the last few years.
Maybe I’ll make “Blind Detective” one of those movies. The film stars Andy Lau as, you guessed it, a blind Detective. Hey, just cause he’s blind doesn’t mean he can’t shoot a gun. Check it out, check it outers.
A cop is forced into early retirement due to retinal damage. But after witnessing a bank robbery along with a female inspector – who believes he has acute senses – they team up in hope to solve the case.
The film co-stars the lovely Sammi Cheng, who previously co-starred with Lau on the “Infernal Affairs” films as well as “Yesterday Once More”, which was also directed by To.
“Blind Detective” opens up in Hong Kong this May 2, 2013.
