Summit Eyes Another Vampire Movie in Elevator Men
Elevator Men Movie, Horror Movie News — By Nix on March 27, 2009
Summit Entertainment just can’t get enough of vampires. Their latest conquest is “Elevator Men”. It’s like their other vampire franchise “Twilight”, minus the teen romance, or “True Blood” minus the gratuitous Anna Paquin nudity. Based on a spec script by former executive Marc Haimes, “Elevator Men” is about humans and vampires and that one thing that keeps getting in the way of the two species uniting for world peace. You know, the whole, “they want to drink our blood” deal.
So what’s it all about? THR got the word from Haimes himself:
“It’s a reaction to all of these stories now — TV shows and movies — that play this kind of romantic, fantastical, sexy aspect of getting involved with monsters,” Haimes said. “This is the dark, sinister version of what really happens when you decide you’re going to get close to really bad things. That fantasy element is something I wanted to look at and play the exact opposite: the grim reality of bedding down with a monster.” The creatures play diabolical mind games with people, including one that involves an elevator, hence the title.
Oh, to be a former high-ranking executive in Hollywood. I bet getting people to read your script is pretty easy there huh, Marc? Not that I’m bitter or anything. Ahem.
Erik Feig and Jean Song will produce “Elevator Men” for Summit.

For some reason I can’t take this movie title seriously. Maybe it’s because all it does in conjure up images of the NES game Elevator Man and seriously, no one is scared of pixelated mobsters anymore.
