Summit Readies Twilight Sequel

Written by Nix | October 14th, 2008 | 5 Comments |

Let’s face it, this thing is going to be BIG. A massive hit, if all the 13 to 15 year old girls who have been commenting in our “Twilight” articles have anything to say about it. The makers of “Twilight” will also be getting repeat viewings from my nieces, all of whom have read the “Twilight” books and can’t get enough of the thing. So what’s the smart thing to do, even if the movie itself hasn’t been released yet? Get the sequel ready, of course, so that when the movie lands and crashes the box office, Summit can send out a press release announcing “Twilight 2″.

Deadline Hollywood Daily has your “Twilight” sequel news:

When your soundtrack isn’t even completed much less released (not until November 4th), yet it’s already in the Top 5 Best-Selling Albums on Amazon based on pre-sales alone, you know you have a hit. When Borders makes an exclusive calendar and sells out the first printing in a matter of days, you know you have a hit. And when the new trailer to your movie surpasses 3.5 million views less than 48 hours after its online debut, you know you have a hit. Which is why Summit Entertainment’s CEO Rob Friedman is already readying a Twilight sequel — even though the vampire tween/tween movie isn’t set for release until November 21st which is the date vacated by Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince. Oh, and did I mention that Twilight has the fastest selling licensed merchandise since — you guessed it — Harry Potter?

For those who haven’t seen it yet, a new, final “Twilight” trailer was recently released. You can see that here.

Also, new stills from the movie have been added to our image gallery. You can see that by clicking on the image below.

I can’t wait for Twilight or New Moon! All I have to say is, they’d better stick very close to the book (Twilight). If they do, I might see it in theaters twice. :D

I find it utterly amusing that a teenage Romance novel, with a modern “Goth/Vampire” twist, written by a Mormon (if I recall correctly), is causing such a stir. These books are a nice way for these youngsters to cut their teeth on Vampire fiction. However, I would reccomend Anne Rice as the benchmark for this genre… better stories, grander appeal, enough romance and sex to not be boring and not too much to lose its appeal (i.e. Laurel Hamilton’s “Anita Blake” Series after book 12).

By the looks of the hype for the first film of the novel series, it looks like there is going to be a huge Twilight Franchise. Personally, i reckon they SHOULD continue with the series project!!! I am so there supporting them, and keeping up with it to the max!

HOPE THEY MAKE THE MOVIE SEQUELS!!! I would sign a peitition if they ever considered not to!

Keep it up! Please!
